Sorry to have missed the reunion in Washington DC. Second one in ten
years. Missed everyone, but I know that everyone had a great time. Always
read the e-mails everyother day to see the comments and who is lookiing
for whom. The past six years, I have looking for several members of A/3/7.
We are now up to 199 on the active roster out of 368. Sorry to say we
have found 12 who have since passed away from their return home. We are
having a reunion in Dayton, OH the end of July. Those that are searching,
here are two web pages that I use to find people. If you know their name
and location orginally from, about 90% of my finds have been back to their
original state. Here they are: www.anywho.com and www.switchboard.com.
Good luck on your searches.

I did not acknowledge my involvement in Nam until the Gulf War...it
took me until now to attempt to make contact with my buddies. Now that
I have, I feel overwhelmed. I am intereacting with Jerry Burger, Norm
Price, and others, who were on the same platoon, but a different squad.
I would really like to make contact with Phil Lynch, who was one of my
very closest buddies, and Gerald Donohoe. I am still trying to name my
other buddies. The battle that I am most interested in right now is the
one that Jerry Burger was seriously injured in on May 30, 1968. Three
of my buddies were killed by friendly fire when they were in the chow
line. The last time I saw my buddy is when he asked me if he could go
to chow...I said, sure, you got the last VC. Also, I am interested in
the Operation Box Springs, when Company A, 4th Btn, 12 Inf over took the
VC base camp complex with all of the multi-level tunnel systems. I went
in 3rd from point, and remember all of these bomb hanging in trees.

The May 2000 Re-union was my first, and it confirmed my belief that
you members of the 199th were the best of America and Humanity. You made
me proud to have trudged through the jungle and slogged through the swamps
along with you!

My Company Commander was George Grammas. We were at firebase Elvira,
AO Green, Cu Chi, the Pineapple Groves, firebase Calcutta, Thu Duc, and
Binh Chanh. Most of my squad was killed or wounded when we were overrun
on a night ambush outside of Binh Chanh. The next day I asked if I could
become a sniper. I wanted a better opportunity to even the score. Went
to 9th Inf. Div. Sniper School at Dong Tam along with Wayne Garrett, Robert
Dyck, and Al Crider. Later I wound up on the Mobile Training Team. Look
forward to hearing from all of you, even if you were at one of the same
firebases that I was. Would like to hear from anyone who knows/knew Bob
Dyck. He was from Virginia Beach, VA and have been unable to locate him.
Thanks, Jim Klones.
