All of them!! :-D)----ARC, Donut Dolly--------I/II Corps - 7/67 to 1/68----8/68
Got the word Wesnesday morning that my son passed Geometry and got a 96 on his English final... HE'S GOING TO GRADUATE SUNDAY NIGHT!!! I'm going to miss you all so much... I can't believe that I won't be there to lead "God Bless America" and "Auld Lang Syne"... Don't let anyone chicken out on the singing... it's important to remember ALL of those from whom we've been separated for so many years, both living and living only in our memories. Please remember me and hug each other every chance you have. Tell someone what they meant to you incountry or since you've been home. We are survivors for a reason; let's make our lives count for those who can't. My love to all of you... May God bless you and comfort you during this most special weekend. I've mentioned the 199th tradition of reading the names of our dead on Sunday morning on my Incountry Women's List, and I hope that some of the women will be there for the wreath laying. DDWHHs all around!!!!!!!!! Kammy PS: My heartfelt thanks to all the guys who wrote to me after my last 'whine'... Your messages lifted my spirits and kept me going... Somebody take pictures, please!!

Paul Lange <conejo@flash.net> from Albuquerque, NM
2/40 Artillery----C Btry--------Feb 68----Feb 69

Well, the old uniform doesn't fit anymore,
Target practice now takes a lot more from the eyes...
I don't remember many verses to old "Sound Off"
and what was the max range of the 155s?

We used to shoot with help of GFTs
Now Redlegs use only computer-ese.
We could go anywhere with jeeps in low-range
Now HUMMV's need a wide road...quite a change!

We always had smart soldiers who hit the mark
Now we have smart bombs..sometimes in the ball-park.
I started out with the M-1 and carbine
I left as electronics (and women) came into the line.

I once packed an American Colt .45
They now use a foreign "Beretta" to stay alive.
I don't know why we made that change
It surely didn't give us a more lethal range!

I look back many years on a war called "wrong,"
But we did our job to suppress the "Cong."
The guys in the foxholes did their duty to their country
Maybe the guidance at the top was the place it was faulty.

In peacetime the civilians may not readily realize
That this peacetime is due to their military guys.

I put up the flag today, it's about all I can now do
But I'm proud of that flag and proud to have served.. to have served with you!

Hey fellas: I am amazed that this website exists, it's truly a gas. I don't know if anyone remembers me, I was the leader and trombone player for the band from BMB, THE REDCATCHER EXPRESS. If anyone remembers, please e-mail me at the address above. I would like to correspond with anyone who remembers the band. I'm also looking for the other band members. Looking for John Fitzgerald, guitar, Pride Coffey, bass, Fagan, trumpet, Zimmerman, bass (I don't remember first names) Aaron Burke, drums, Henry Morfi, drums, Toney Holiday, lead vocals, and Earle Wright, guitar. If anyone knows of the whereabout of these guys, I would appreciate knowing where I can contact them. Also, I just completed a book on my Vietnam experience as a REDCATCHER and hope to have it on the internet at 1stBooks.com within 6-8 weeks. The book is entitled THE REDCATCHER EXPRESS, which was also the name of the band, and it underscores the adventures the band went through.

I was a Sgt. E5. At first I was assigned to the Tiger Jeeps at FSB Nancy then I humped with the Recon platoon. I remember working with the ARVN unit down in Dinh Quan. We had a Kit Carson scout that operated a laundry in the village. I was there when Nancy nearly burned down due to a fire that started in one of the morter pits. Does antone remember the new firebase we helped setup Northeast of Xuan Loc (I think). We were nearly overrun by the 33rd NVA. Too many years, too much murk.......

Hi Guys! It was great to see some of you at the Melbourne reunion... :-D)! Sad weekend, too. My brother reached me just before the closing ceremonies at the Moving Wall to tell me that my Mom had passed away Saturday afternoon. My soon-to-be-ex-husband forgot where I was staying so it took a relay from the police in Peachtree City, GA. to the police in Melbourne, FL to the park rangers at Wickham Park to find me. Was able to sing 'Amazing Grace' at her funeral and to tell some great MOM stories that had people laughing as well as crying... Got back to Lexington to find out I'd been fired by my divorce lawyer... told Geoff that he won and to have his lawyer draw up the papers... enough is enough. So, if you have written to me and not heard back, please know that I still care about all the Redcatchers and send lots of DDWHHs. Tom Kennedy volunteered to lay the DD Wreath for me after the names are read. It will be delivered to the hotel on Saturday morning. Thanks to everyone who has sent notes. Love and hugs, Kammy

This is a great site. Am astonished to have found two men I served with (Dennis Looker & Ram. Chavez). I only wish this technology was available 25 years ago when my mind was more clear and less forgetful!Wouldn't mind touching base with Carl Rau II from MO; Alfred McCarthy(Speedy)from NY; Jim Hannah, Carson City, NV; Darryl Siegfried, Oceanside, CA; Jim Henegan, Yakima, WA; Richard Knight, Concord, CA; Gary Wiffler, Tacoma, WA; Robert Moore, Ft. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. This year I am bringing my better half. Last year was my first reunion and it was absolutely great. We are so lucky to have very dedicated people organizing the event. I am interested in a return tour to Vietnam, probably next year, and would love to help organize a 199th trip whether that is 2 or 50 people. Maybe we can talk about it at the reunion. I am thinking it would be for about 14 days and cost around $3,000 or less.

Great article in May Readers Digest, FOUND: The Lost Children of Saigon. If your still looking for a reason this might help. Still hoping to find someone who might know something about Chaplain James Craig. If anyone remembers me, give a shout. I just remember a name: Lonnie, he was the Colonels' radio man, anyone hear from him.

On my first night of vacation in Viet Nam, in Hanoi, on February 15th, 2000, I wrote notes from which came the following article which was printed Sunday, April 30th in the Seattle Post Intelligencer. In the paper the article was dedicated to the men of Company A, but by extension my dedication includes all of the men of the 199th without whose mutual assistance none of us could have survived.
