Lewis in time to catch the end of Tet and the ammo dump explosion. I
was not able to go to the reunion as I had just started a new job and

Scott Bechtold. He served from October '67 until he was killed on Feb.
17th, '68
He was in Co. C, 3rd Battalion, 199th when he was killed
about 14 miles south of Saigon with his squad leader (all from a newspaper
clip). My husband (scott) would love to hear from anyone that knew him.

Love the web site - good work! I enjoy visiting it and seeing the new
stuff. I served with the 856th Radio Research
Detachment, attached
to the 199th, from November 67 to November 68. I would enjoy hearing from
anyone from
the Redcatchers and anyone who served in the 856th RRD.
I have a nice photo of A2/3 in the delta and will e-mail
it to anyone
who wishes to see it. I was in the field a great deal and billeted with
various company's and firebases
and a ARVN unit or two. I moved around
so much I hardly know what unit or where I was for the most part. If any
of you remember seeing two guys working a funny looking radio, about
18 inches square and with a diamond
shaped antenna on top that spun
around 360 degrees, it could have been me and my partner. The last place
I was
at was the Fishnet Factory.

Forgot to introduce my self properly before. I was a Donut
Dollie
after graduating from college, incountry from late July 1967 to August
7th or 8th 1968. Began my tour in the north with the Marines, 4th, and
the Special Forces. Sent south January 3, 1968 just in time for Tet.
Loved working with the 199th. You guys were, and are, the greatest.
I remember flying with Fireball... is the pilot out there who got my last
Red Cross pin for flying us low and superfast from BMB to somewhere south
of Saigon on March 8, 1968? How about the guys on Signal Mountain with
whom I filled and carried sand bags? The grunts from 2/3, 4/12, 5/12,
3/7, Cav?? We were the non-essential personnel running around in the
little light blue uniforms as far forward as we could get them to take
us. I remember Sunny Hansen from B, 2/3, cutting my hair at a FSB, Gerry
Black, Mark Walsh, airboat visits, LRRPS, and all the good guys... Hope
that some of you will have good memories of your DDs. The 199th has been
my vet family since May 1984 when I first visited the Wall and cratered

developed any type of lung disease? I have chronic obstructive
plumonary disease
with emphysema as a componet. I heard that exposure
to agent orange could cause
this disease. I would like to hear from

Mostly at 'fishnet' factory fwd location 2-3 clicks SW of Saigon. Remember
Lt. Robert Eason, Sgt Mac, Dick Sato, 'Pickle', Robert "Bobsie" Stewart
(KIA). Was at rear when sapper hit bomb dump at Bien Hoa, left country
just before Ho Nai village bunkers and tunnels were discovered. Saw stupid
incident during zero week of retraining at grenade throw.

I have been looking for vets from the 199th for years but no to much
luck. I was assigned to HHC 199th as the Communications Chief from Mar
1968 to May 1969. I was at the Fish Net Factory for about 5 months then
befor my tour was up General Davison ask me to build the 199th a MARS
Radio Station. That was the last thing that I did before I left in May
1969. I stayed in the army and retired in January 1977. I work here
at Fort Rucker, Alabama as an Avionics Repairman with a contractor. Lots

I don't know whats wrong with the people who deployed with or were assigned
to A, 2/40 Arty prior to Oct67, except for the XO, I haven't heard from
anyone. The 33rd Reunion is comind up and it would be nice to see all
who can attend and have our own little reunion within the Brigades. Come
on, we set the standards for the rest, so let's get together in Washington
on Memorial Day, 1999. I believe that any of the Originals should attend
as it's time to
